My name is Sha'Kahia, and I'm from Shreveport, Louisiana. I am the owner of Prolific.

The vision for this brand came back in 2019. I started “Built Not Bought” by myself with no guidance of what it meant to actually have a clothing brand. I fell in love with the confusion and finally figured out how to be myself through my clothing. The designs were so bad lol but I still managed to sell almost every piece I had to people on campus. During this time I was also a freshman on the basketball team dealing with a lot of emptiness. Even though I was playing, I was not happy with where I was as a person. I became very depressed and decided to stop doing clothing all together.

Fast forward to 2022...now at this point in my life I'm playing basketball at a different University with absolutely no thoughts of continuing my clothing brand. People started to ask me about the brand and if I was going to continue "Built Not Bought" but I did not know. I wanted to focus on this new team but for some reason I felt like I was more than just basketball.

After the season I got a text from my old AAU team and they basically told me my basketball sister passed. I went and checked social media and EVERYONE was posting RIDE IN HEAVEN 12. After losing my sister I was lost and depressed. I really didn’t understand why her because she was so young with the warmest heart ever. Her car accident changed my mindset on life in a quick second.Jordan is the reason this brand is where it is today. She always wanted the best for me & told me I’d be playing in the WNBA someday or i was destined for greatness. I prayed about it and God helped me get things back going.I changed the brand name to Prolific and drop my first collection in New Orleans in October of 2022.

Prolific is a collection that explains itself in one word. Oftentimes, we envision ourselves achieving a successful life with no hardships along the way. The journey to reaching the best version of yourself usually consist of obstacles that seem impossible to overcome. However, these obstacles will not knock you off your path. Stay focused and innovative. This mentality starts from within yourself. No one can take that away from you. Keep pushing.
